When newspapers across the country starting shutting down, original press photo’s hit the vintage market. I’ve been collecting cross burning photo’s, along with any other image I find historical or interesting, for several years now. The entire collection shown here, is currently on exhibit at the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.

The framed photos are $900 each, except for the Central High School crisis hanging effigy photograph, which is extremely rare. I will entertain serious offers on it, but there are only three (3) that I’ve seen in existence and mine is the first camera shot where the young man who hung it in the tree is seen suspended in mid-air as he jumps back down. 3. 4/9/40 – Rural ‘Red Hunt’ Stirs Ohio Town. Cross was burned and dynamite et off in front of the home of Rev. Willliam Wiegman Bradner, School Board President. Cleveland, Ohio

4. 2/10/48 – Cross burned on lawn of Negro’s residence. Columbus, Georgia

5. 9/27/57 – Police were without a clue as to who planted a fiery cross on school grounds of William E. Miller Junior High School, formally for white students. Houston, Texas

6. 6/29/88 – Joseph Henley, owner of two flat, with charred remains of cross burned on side yard of his home. Joe has been victim of many vandalism attacks since moving into predominately white neighb

7. 6/8/76 – 1:30 am cross burning in the yard of a woman and her 16-year-old son, who are the only black residents in the immediate neighborhood. St. Petersburgh, Florida

8. 1964 – KKKK - Broward, Florida.

9. 9/6/1988 –Deputies and fire inspectors examine scene of cross burning Monday. Spokane, Washington

11. 5/18/56 – Crude burned wooden cross propped against the fence of Notre Dame Seminary, is held aloft by passerby Charles Grimaldi, Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel, who declared segregation a “Sin”

13. 5/12/1972 - By the light of a 15 ft.-high burning cross, a dozen hooded members of the Ku Klux Klan held a midnight rally which drew a crowd at Windham, Pennsylvania
